BREEAM associate online training
BREEAM is the Building Research Establishment’s (BRE) Environmental Assessment Method. It sets best practice standards for the environmental performance of buildings through design, specification, construction and operation.
On the 8 March 2016, at the BREEAM Awards at Ecobuild, BRE launched a new online course to help develop proactive sustainability teams. The course is intended to ensure project teams are effective when going into the BREEAM process and that they get the best result. BRE suggest it will help develop an understanding of what BREEAM is about, what it involves, and how to support the process day to day. It focuses on how and when to work with assessors and sustainability champions, sets out the behaviours needed to drive cost effective results, and discusses the need for early engagement.
It is suitable for clients, contractors, engineers, architects, product manufacturers and supply chains, and is relevant to all BREEAM schemes other than BREEAM In-Use and BREEAM Communities.
The course material is completely new, and is delivered entirely online. Successful completion results in the award of a BREEAM Associate badge. BREEAM credits are not be awarded for Associate involvement in a project, but it does help embed appropriate considerations in the design and construction process, and so improves the opportunities for high performance.
The course costs £185+VAT per person, although group discounts are available. This provides 12 months access to the online portal, interactive training material, a mock examination and an online help service. The online exam must be passed within 12 months. There is then an annual subscription and a requirement for continuing professional development (CPD) to ensure knowledge stays up-to-date.
BRE Academy Director Pauline Traetto said, “The course has been carefully designed to help forward-thinking professionals deploy the industry’s leading sustainability accreditation within their normal project role. It is the perfect introduction to enable individuals to pitch BREEAM in bids and to deliver it effectively in practice”.
You can sign up to the course here.
